As you look at the grill, the release is on the backside of the latch assembly and moves from left to right. You can't get your hands in there unless you have small hands. You can't see it with out a mirror and light.
I fashioned a small hook out of a wire clothes hangar: about 18" long with a small 1/2" sharp bend on the end of it. Access the release from the underside of the car and just feed it in there. I got lucky and snagged it right away, but you may need to use a mirror and light to try and see where you're fishing. Good luck!

What i did was forced my grill off then it was easy to see and do with my hands. i later attached a small steel cable with a handle .
