A burn mark on a kitchen worktop could be permanent. This depends on the material the worktop is made from. If the worktop is made of wood, it is possible to sand the burn mark and then refinish. If the worktop is made of man made materials, it is likely the work top will need to be replaced.

If the top is plastic, Formica get a very fine piece of sand paper and lightly sand the spot then wax and buff.

How do you remove white spots on a wood surface caused from a hot plate?

I was looking online for answers to this question because I had a white heat mark on my teak dining table. The answer I saw the most was use a steam iron with a white cloth. Doesn't make sence but lots of testimonials that it works- for some reason the steam and heat remove the stain caused by steam and heat.
