I need the diagram for reassembly of the steering column of a 1990 Ford F150 Pick up truck.
Replaced my ignition actuator arm on my 302 engine in 90 F-150, and found this website which was very helpful. Stolenandrecovered.com
Step by step photographs which walked me thru the process without tearing
up anything. I have had some difficulty getting my turn signals to work again
and that may be some minor adjustment I have yet to figure out.
but check out this web site. Any vehicle ignition in column is listed.
Some tilt columns may require specialty tools to disassemble and reassemble. I would recommend purchasing a shop manual for that vehicle if you intend on repairing it yourself. You may have broken parts in there that you won't find until you take it apart, plus depending what year you have , you may have an air bag to deal with.
Possibly the belt driving the power steering pump is worn or loose, and when wet, slips, causing the steering to get stiff.
its a long process, you need a steering wheel puller, once its off take the hazard button assembly out, take the turn signal loose, pull old ignition out, carefully install new one, and reverse procedure
Hi ej here !. remove cover plate on the bottom of the dash then unplug the connectors go under the hood and remove the bolts that connect steering gear and the shifting rod then go back inside unit and take loose the bolts holding the tilt wheel make sure someone holds the wheel so it will not fall on you.
2 possibilites 1. loose or slipping power steering belt. 2. power steering pump could be going out.
The power steering and the power brakes share the same pump. The pump belt may be loose, the system may be low on fluid in which case you have a leak somewhere or the pump may be faulty.
replace the worn parts.
There are 4 bolts at the bottom of the steering column that tend to get loose after entering and exiting your vehicle. Pulling your self up on the steering wheel puts stress the steering column and causes it to become loose. If you do not correct the problem fast by tightening the bolts you will have to replace the entire steering column.. -Henry's locksmith and steering column repair
Alway ensure steering are always tighten up

You have to replace the entire steering column. It is not loose, the lock is broken on your column height adjuster.
Typically, it'll be the u-joints in the steering column.
Excess play in the steering wheel is one symptom.
Loose steering: You notice how steering wheel is very easy to move and feels sloppy. It creates an difficult feeling on the highway because it seems you have no control of your car.POSSIBLE CAUSES: - Steering linkage is worn and parts need to be restored.- Steering linkage may be loose and need to be tightened.- Your steering box needs adjusting.
Most of the time it is the bushing in the top of the column. .Pull the steering wheel off, pull the locking plate for the steering wheel, pull the blinker assembly, then you will come to a stiff spring that preloads the bushing under it.....That bushing, and spring need to be replaced, and you have cured your problem. . . . .
