If you suspect a problem because your washing machine will not finish a cycle; try unloading the machine even if everything is wet, run another small cycle without any clothes and set for low water, no soap. See if it goes through the entire cycle. If it does then the motor is probably the problem. If it does not than you may have just stripped out the "Washing Machine Coupler." (see picture link below) NOTE: The part is cheap and may be fixed by a handy person.

The motor is electric, the hot water is typically heated by gas or electric.
This is not a good idea. The washing machine current will surge when motor is started. a 20 Amp dedicated circuit is recommended for a washing machine.
You can drain it directly into a drain pipe. Just make sure the the top of the drain pipe is even with the top of the washing machine. If not, the water from the washing machine will drain all of the time. There is no valve in the machine to stop the water from draining. The washing machine drains using a pump motor.
You may want to check your motor on the washing machine. It may have a bad short.
