Here is advice: * It depends on where the Plumbing is. Your outside spigots you can take newspaper and wrap it all around then use black ducktape and wrap it around the newspaper. Inside is different. * First make sure all foundation vents are closed and the acess door is closed (crawl space only) then remove all hoses from hydrants. Cover non frost free hyd. with simple towel and tie off.

I assume that you are leaving the refrigerator outside for the winter, perhaps on a porch. Last year I did this simply by disconnecting the water supply to the refrigerator and draining that tube. I left the icemaker on for a cycle or two (before lifting the wire to stop its working) so that it would open the valve and (I hope) drain the tube going from the icemaker down to the valve. I did not do anything specifically to drain the valve on the back of the refrigerator. We had long periods of below-freezing weather, but in the spring when I re-connected the water everything was OK.

As I close down for this winter I wonder if I was just lucky and I would like to hear from someone with more experience. I don't see how I could fully drain that valve, since both connections to it are on the top. Anyone else have ideas here?

To winterize a pressure washer, follow the following steps:

  • Many manufacturers will recommend that you change the oil before you winterize a pressure washer. For most models, the engine will take a standard 30w oil, and the pump will take a non-detergent 30w. Check with the manufacturer of your machine if you are unsure about which oil to use
  • Place a fuel stabilizer in your pressure washer's gas tank
  • If there is any water in either your supply hose\garden hose or pressure washer hose (from the machine to the wand), detach them from your pressure washer and drain them
  • Place roughly 1 gallon of a 50/50 anti-freeze into a bucket
  • Attach an inlet hose (garden hose) to you pressure washer and drop the other end in this bucket of anti-freeze
  • Turn on the motor and allow it to run until the antifreeze starts to come out of the discharge outlet of the pump
  • Store in a sheltered (and preferably warm place)

To winterize your hot tub you will first have to drain all the water, close all the valves and open all the jets. Next you will need to leave the spigot open. Turn on the blower, secure the tub lid. Lastly, you will want to make sure you closed the panel tightly and check to see that you shut off the circuit breaker and power supply. Finally turn off the water supply to the tub and your hot tub will be ready for winter.
