There are two things you have to know about Super Beetle horns: they're under the front left fender, and Volkswagen doesn't switch the power. They switch the GROUND!!! Why, I have no idea. Anyway, to wire a new horn you need to first mount the new horn. Once it's on, get about ten feet of lamp cord, and thread it through the firewall. Hook one wire to your fusebox. Hook the other to the horn switch in the steering wheel.

Horn fuse keeps blowing out on a 1999 ford escort zx2?

Take the horn off and clean the mounting bracket then clean the bolt hole both with wire brush because that is how your horn is grounded. If that does not work you have a ground in your hot wire but first check the wire plug on the horn. If need be run new wire to a switch on your dash

Horn does not work on a 1982 Chevy s10 replaced all fuses but cant think of anything else any ideas?

run a wire straight from the battery to the horn. if it dont honk that way, the horn is bad. get a new one. It may also be the horn contacts in the steering column, If running a strait wire don't work and a new horn don't work, that will be your problem, but try the wire first, Its cheeper.

You need to upgrade the horn on your 2002 Corolla new horn requires 15A old horn fused for 10 A where do you get the power from?

in that case i would run a new wire straight from the battery. use the old signal coming from the horn button from inside to switch a relay to activate the horn. new horn draws more power. more power requires thicker wire (wider gauge) and make sure to use a 15a fuse somewhere in the new wire coming from the battery. the device itself will only draw as much amps as needed, just match the volts. hope this helps.

Is it possible to change the horn on a Jeep Wrangler?

Yes. Remove the existing horn or horns, attach your new horn and connect the horn wires. The horn wires will probably have a JEEP wire plug on the end that will need to be removed or altered.

Where is the horn and how do you replace the horn assembly on 2008 Mazda MX-5?

Why does the horn honk when shifting in to reverse in 2003 jeep grand Cherokee?

The reason why your horn honks when you back up is because someone hooked the horn to your back up lights. I think you can just find the wire that goes to the horn and pull the wire. it might also be a safety feature to your jeep. alot of new cars have this.

Your horn is stuck and you bought a horn button from auto zone it didn't come with any wires or anything else how do you wire it so it will work?

My guess is to cut the power wire to the sounding horn--then hook it to the button switch from both ends of the cut power wire. Then push the new horn button, to see if it works. If it does work then find enough wire to hook the new button to somewhere in the driving area, then rehook the new button. Make sure to check to make sure it works. Then mount the new button. Remember for safety....Unhook negative to the battery while working with power wires, especially if you have a driver's air bag!!

My horn on my ford contour wont stop blowing when you put the new battery in it?

You may have the wires for your horn crossed with the battery wire. This would cause the horn to go off any time the battery is connected.

How do you add a relay for a second separate horn on a 1998 Honda CRV without modifying the existing horn setup?

If you're just adding a second horn that sounds at the same time as the original equipment horn - you will need to cut into the wire that leads to the original equipment horn in order to get power to the added one. Install the additional horn making sure it is securely grounded. Then, splice the power line to the new horn into the power wire to the existing horn. This will ensure that when the horn button is depressed, both horns will receive power simultaneously.

How do you install a C High Tone horn in a 86 Cavalier w no airbags?

Underneath the hood on the driver's side is a power suppy box. Leaving the box are several wire. Look for a dark green wire. This wire connects to the horn. Follow that wire until you reach its end. Cut of the end and attach a female blade connector. From there attach the connector on the metal peice leaving the horn (the horn isn't polarity concsious). On the other metal blade leaving the horn, attach the ground connector that was supplied with the new horn. On disc shape horns the ground wire connects to a metal piece on the horn. While on other horns it connects on the bracket attached to the horn (Disc horn screw on top of horn to attach g.c. is crowned, and can't be removed). Underneath the car on the driver's side by the wheel is where the horn goes. You see a 2 holes to attach the horn. One for the horn itself, the other for the g.c. NOTE: If the horn isn't getting power, test to see if the horn works, to do this get a positive jumper cable and attach it to the car battery, the other end to the horn (not ground).

2001 Echo and the horn doesn't work you are having problems locating the fuse for the horn any suggestions?

There are spare fuses in the fuse box under the hood, so just use one of those. Its very easy to test the horn, there is only one wire to it, ground against the engine block. A new horn is easy to install if you must. You can also run a new thicker wire from the fuse box to the horn to make it louder (use one of the existing 30 amp fuses). If you need details on installing a horn just google it.
