How was a roman legion organised?

Answer:
A Roman legion, at full strength, was 6,000 men counting officers and standard bearers. It was organized into units called cohorts which consisted of 480 men plus officers. The first cohort was double in size. The cohort was further divided into centuries which, despite the name, was made up of 80 men plus a centurion and optio. There was a further division called a contubernium which was a group of eight tent mates. There was also a detachment of about 300 cavalry with each legion.
