How was education in the southern colonies?

Answer:
I assume you are speaking of the American colonies. Well generally, people were more Isolated in the Southern colonies, and those who could afford it would hire a tutor to educate their children, even having educated slaves tutor their children. As for the families who couldn't afford a teacher, homeschooling was often the only option. Another option, which became more prevalent across the South as it grew in population, was for townspeople to get together and hire a teacher, and build a schoolhouse on depleted cotton fields.
