How was the Lincoln Memorial made?

I think the Lincoln Memorial is the most beautiful building in Washington. When you visit there, you can see into the foundation of the building, and learn that it is built on an artificial hill. The memorial is built on very long pillars, and the hill was then literally built up around it. When you look into the foundation area, you can see that stalactites are beginning to form from the ceiling of the foundation, because the limestone in the construction is beginning to slowly lose minerals to small amounts of water that leak through. This memorial is a must-see.
