How was the economy of India transformed by british?

Answer:
The world's third largest railroad system helped. Also, a modern road network, telephone and telegraph lines, dams, bridges, and irrigation canals enabled India to modernize. Sanitation and public health improved too. Schools and colleges were founded and literacy increased. British troops cleared central India of bandits and put an end to local warfare among competing local rulers.

Hope this helps, I borrowed it from my social studies book.
