Vicodin is a mixture of acetaminophen and hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is a synthetic mixture of the opiate codeine modified by adding a hydrogen atom and and the opiate alkaloid thebaine. Acetaminophen (paracetamol) is commonly known as Tylenol.
