Snakes don't actually have external ears - they pick up sound by picking up vibrations from there tongue and there body. Some species of snakes have better senses than others.

= i think snakes don't use tongue to hear but to taste the air using the Jacobson's organ at the roof of it's mouth.
snakes hear low frequency sounds using it's body.
