Originally, gunpowder was used in Chinese weapons called fire lances. They were bamboo tubes filled with powder which was lit to shoot out flames and sparks to burn and scare the enemy. Someone noticed that particles were ejected from these tubes and decided to try and eject a more solid projectile.

The rest is history.

The first gun probably looked more like a cooking pot- since that is what it was. People found out that when gunpowder ignited, it would blow stuff out of the pot- like rocks. Later the pot became shaped more like a vase, and instead of rocks, it threw arrows. Later they were made longer and skinnier, and threw round balls. Changes took place over many years, by many people. Guns in general had no ONE inventor.
