During and after the Spanish invasion of Peru, the Peruvians lost their land to the Spanish invaders. The Spaniards deceived the Peruvian emperor, the Inca, by saying that they wanted to meet peacefully. But the Spaniards captured the emperor and demanded for his ransom all the gold that the Peruvian people possessed. After taking the gold, the Spaniards killed the Inca. The Peruvians lost their emperor and their riches, and were taken into captivity. The Spaniards captured another South American land and gained many more slaves, along with much more gold.
