Without fossil fuels we would, by now, have harnessed the energy of the sun, the wind, the waves, falling water, heat from under the earth's crust, in other words, all the renewable energy sources (solar, wind, water, hydro, tidal and wave, geothermal, ocean thermal, biomass and biofuel) that we are now trying to move to.

As the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) is causing global warming, it actually was a sad day when they first discovered coal would burn!

coal is a type of solid fossil fuel and is formed from the remains of plant life.

What are the problems you will have to face if earth does not get sunlight?

All the energy for living things and all the energy for fossil fuel, hydroelectric and wind energy comes form the energy of sunlight. Without sunlight there would be no life and Earth would be a frozen dead planet.

What is Fossils and Fossil fuel?

Fossils are evidences of prehistoric life, the record of which is usually in a stone medium. Fossil fuel is the product of prehistoric life, such as coal, peat, oil, and natural gas, which can be burned to provide energy.

Is there a fossil fuel that is renuable?

No. At least not in our life time. Fossil fuels are the remains of plants and animals that died millions of years ago.

Why has fossil fuel use increase?

Human beings use machines to make life easyand machines burn fossil fules.

What fuel's when burn add to the greenhouse effect?

coal, oil, in other words pretty much any fossil fuel (fossil fuels are fuels that came from ancient plant, animal, or bacterial life)

Why do you need to move away from fossil fuels?

It is thought that burning oil and coal as in fossil fuel is what caused the increase of the worldwide temperature of the atmosphere (global warming). Enormous amounts of plant and animal life that was rich in carbon were deposited as fossil fuel. When we burn this fossil fuel we free up the deposited carbon. This goes into the atmosphere and causes an increase in the greenhouse effect. Today the earth's crust is not fully covered with plants anymore that absorb this extra carbon and deposit it again. This is why it is considered a bad idea to carry on using fossil fuel instead of renewable energy that can be used without releasing more carbon.

How would life without fossil fuels affect the world?

Dull and boring...because fossil fuels and some power stations produce energy and sometimes electricity. And withought electicity we would not be able to have the great inventions we have today! And withought them it would not be a very fun life. By a year seven called... Taylor Marshall

How might an increased use of alternate energy sources such as wind and solar radiation affect the lifetime of fossil fuel resources?

If we use more alternate energy, then we will use less fossil fuel energy, so fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) will have a longer life time.Anything and EVERYTHING that will have a detrimental impact upon the use of fossil fuels may just increase 'Our Life Time'.

Why does gasoline kill animals?

Gasoline is a fossil fuel and hydrophobic in nature hence obstruct with life supporting activities.
