Several methods are available, depending upon your preferences. One easy method involves using tin sheets to construct an above ground container (connected at the corners using wire and electric fence posts). Leaves, grass, and other organic material is simply placed into the container (the worms will eventually come up into the container [or worm bed] from below. Be sure to keep the area moist.
L.S.,
making compost using worms only doesn't exist.
Composting is a heat producing (upto 70 degrees centigrade) aerobe micro-biological process that requires the help of many bacteria, bugs, beetles and worms.
When the microbiological part of the process has ended (after a few weeks), the still existent and not decomposed larger parts of organic material, like leaves, twigs, are being eaten, cut and digested by the beetles and worms.
Worms are in general the final fase of the whole process.
In general the whole process of composting takes:
-in professionally controlled conditions about 6 weeks to two months.
-at home in your garden about 6 months to 1 year.
first you get 2 buckets you drill holes in 1 of the buckets for drainage and air put the other bucket underneath the bucket with holes then add bedding( shredded newspaper, leaves etc.) add your worms and start adding your food scraps
Some species of worms eat rotting organic material. This gives a relatively quick method of composting and results in a concentrated compost.
I have no idea, but their composts are called castings.
There are many good YouTube videos on this. I will try to find a link to it later, but search on Youtube for "Worm Bin Preparation."
You can make a composting system with worms by purchasing or making an outdoor worm bin. Then simply give your worms small amounts of materials at a time.

Worms are especially farmed for composting because they decompose your organic material and their droppings are compost! xp
Red worms and earthworms are the same thing. They are closely related to each other, though. Red worms make much better worm farm worms or composting worms than regular earth worms because of their higher rate of soil assimilation.

Worm composting is becoming very popular since the publication of the book Worms eat my Garbage. In this book, the author gives very specific information about worm composting techniques. Basically, you use red worms and keep them in a box with moistened shredded paper. You add organic waste materials from time to time to feed them and they will eat the garbage and produce worm castings, which are high in nutrients and excellent for feeding your plants. The easiest way to begin worm composting is to buy a worm bin with complete instructions. I got mine from gardensalive.com
