I lived in Germany for 5 years and was the only American woman for 40 miles so I think I can give you a good answer. They aren't really rejecting you, but just ignoring you and you are a stranger in their country/ town. It takes about 6 months to get over the culture shock of living in a foreign culture. Learn how things are done where you are, buy local clothing so you don't stand out, if there are community events go to them, be polite, try to learn the language, and follow the customs. Remember you are just as foreign to them as they are to you.
