HIV has various phases from wellness to illness: 1)Asymptomatic incubation period. Here is where the person goes from HIV negative to HIV positive because the first antibody is produced. Its called "seroconversion" 2)Acute Primary Infection. person may have systems but don't recoginze them. Aches, pains, swollen glands.... similar to the flu. 3)Asymptomatic Phase. HIV replicates in blood and certain tissues and slowly errodes the immune system. 4)Symptomatic Phase. Constant infections that are vertually impossible to fight off. Includes cognitive slowing, fever, night sweats, weight loss, oral leisons and many more... 5)Officially AIDS at this point. *CONCLUSION*** There is no way to physically tell if somebody is suffering from HIV. You could always ask them! IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW THINKS THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE AIDS THEN GO GET TESTED. THERE ARE CLINICS WHO WILL DO IT FOR CHEAP OR EVEN FREE. FOR THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE... GET TESTED.

You don't. Neither you nor the person with the virus knows that the person has HIV unless that person takes a blood test. That blood test does not generally show any indication of the disease until six months after the initial infection has occurred. Unless a person has regular blood tests, no one suspects anything until the body starts getting sicker and sicker and finds it more and more difficult to throw off diseases. Then people go to the doctor to find out what is wrong. Then a person makes a choice between a daily regimen of drugs or death.

If you are not looking to get married, always use a condom
Unless the person has AIDS and is in the later periods of the disease, you would never know if the person is infected.
The only way to know or not if a person has HIV is to be tested.

Generally by just looking at someone you won't be able to tell if they have HIV, although visibly swollen glands are a tell tale sign of HIV/AIDS. The further the disease progresses the most noticeable skin rashes, and lesions may be visible as well.

It is ALWAYS in your best interest to have sexual partners tested, as well as yourself, before sexual encounters. If that's not possible, ALWAYS use a condom!

HIV is a virus that will not show any sympthoms unless it has become AIDS, so on mere sight you will not be able to tell who has it since the only way to tell is on a specialized blood test

You mean positive with hiv. Very simple. Get him tested before you have sex! Isn't that simple enough? If he refuses then he doesn't deserve your body

Does someone with HIV have to tell their workmates?

== Absolutely not. Working with an HIV-positive person does not endanger anyone's health, so the choice of whether or not to tell your colleagues that you are HIV-positive is an entirely personal matter. == No. There is currently no requirement that you inform those you work with if you are HIV-positive. Note, however, that the idea that someone who is HIV-positive does not endanger anyone's health is not entirely true. Though someone who is HIV-positive does not normally endanger co-workers, if there is an accident or injury, it is possible that contact with blood or fluids will infect another individual. When rendering aid in emergency situations in the workplace (or elsewhere), precautions must be observed. It would be unwise not to take them. You should take them with regard to others, and if you are injured on the job, you should expect them to be taken with regard to you.
