Being the eldest of three sisters, Sophie accepts that her life will revolve around the family's hat shop. It is onl when the Witch of the Waste turns her into an elderly lady that Sophie leaves the shop. Sophie soon discovers this is a lie which Howl himself spread to ensure his isolation. Sophie soon learns of a spell that has gripped Howl and wishes for it to be broken.
The book Howl's Moving Castle has a sequel - Castle in the Air and House of many Ways.
Howl's Moving Castle has also been made into an anime film by Studio Ghibli (a famous Japanese film studio). It was released in 2004 and hit DVDs in 2006.
Spirited Away - Princess Mononoke - My Neighbor Totoro - Poco Rosso - Arriety - Kiki's Delivery Service - Castle in the Sky - Grave of the Fireflies (A very sad and poignant film.) All of these suggestions are by the director of Howl's Moving Castle, Hayao Miyazaki.
Another very similar director is MamoruHosoda, who was initially going to be the director of Howl's Moving Castle, but replaced by Miyazaki in the early stages of productions. His films include Wolf Children, which is extremely similar in tone to Miyazaki.
It's a movie actually, and a really good one at that.
Spirited Away , Princess Mononoke , My Neighbor Totoro , Ponyo By The Sea , Kiki's Delivery Service and Porco Rosso .
In the film Howl's hair goes from blonde to a charcoal-black color .
it sounds like a Miyazaki film perhaps Spirited away, Kikis Delivery Service, or Howls Moving Castle, maybe even Castle in the sky.n Its kinda the basic plot for all of his movies. So just search for hayao Miyazaki on Google if its not one of those four

In the book "Howl's Moving Castle" by Diana Wynne Jones, Sophie doesn't destroy Howl's castle. Instead, she helps Howl regain control of his castle and break the curse that has been placed on him. Sophie's actions ultimately lead to the restoration of Howl's true form and the resolution of the conflicts within the story.
I don't think there is a release date yet for a US blu-ray. But if you are ok with subtitles there was a blu-ray released in Japan that you can currently buy on Amazon.
The climax of "Howl's Moving Castle" in the book is when Sophie confronts the Witch of the Waste in the final battle, breaking the curse on Howl and Calcifer and ultimately defeating the witch. This leads to a resolution where Sophie and Howl's love for each other is finally acknowledged and they are able to live happily ever after.
Well, probably not, because it was based on a book that is not a series. If you liked howl's moving castle, you could always read the book. Or if you don't feel like reading, you could watch the other movies by hayao miyazaki (if I spelled that right) like Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro, ect.WHAT!? Howl's Moving Castle is a book in a series! The author of Howl's Moving Castle, Diana Wynne Jones, wrote two other books, 'Castle in the Air' and 'House of many Ways'.
