From what you've written, it sounds as though you did not completely comply with he Immigration regulations of the country. From my understandng of tourist visa's, they don't allow you to stay for seven years. If you came on a tourist visa and overstayed the terms of the visa, you are in violation of the law.
Laws are important to every society; we do not have the right to decide which laws we want to obey and which we want to ignore.
