I'M NEARLY 12 AND I HAVE A HAMSTER BUT MY FRIEND HAS A GERBIL. IF YOU'RE GOING TO GET A HAMSTER I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU GET A SYRIAN HAMSTER - THEY ARE EASIER TO HANDLE THAN THE DWARF HAMSTERS.

If you want gerbils, you should get 2 rather than 1 (gerbils like company) but if you want a Syrian hamster, you should only get 1 as they're not so keen on company.

I would advise you research both gerbils and hamsters before making a decision.

Gerbils are awake during the morning and hamsters are awake at night. So if you are an early person i would get a gerbil, or visa versa. If you like cuddling animals get a hamster, or if you like a jumpier fun animal get a gerbil. Gerbils are cheaper but they need a partner, and hamsters can usually live by them selves. You should also think about mice or rats. They also are very fun!!!
