I am 37 weeks 2 days pregnant 80 percent effaced a good 2 cm dilated my doctor says I'll have the baby in less than 10 days but how soon do you think it could be?

there is not really anyway to tell i was 100% effaced and 2 cm dilated for like 2 weeks... then funally she came a day before her due date but for 3 weeks my ob was saying she thought i was gonna be early lol so its just a waiting game now an for me it felt like forever but he or she will come soon anough good luck congrats,,,

∙ 15y agoHere is my timeline if it helps. I'm 37 weeks 2 days also and my ob said at my last appointment 4 days ago that I'm 80% effaced and dilated to a 'loose 3cm'. At my appointment 7 days before that I was 80% effaced and 2cm. I've been contracting since week 34 and they got regular so I was given terb shots and niefedipine until I got to week 36 because of pre-term labor. Now my Doc's say if I go into labor they won't stop me but 'sod's law' my contractions have become eratic and unreliable and I'm not going into labor now!!! Frustrating! My Doc won't induce until week 39 so I just hope my water breaks as I am very concerned that the baby is going to be to large if it stays in that long. I am holding out hope that your Dr says the baby will be born in 10 days and I hope it is true. Best of luck to you. I hope the time passes quickly for you during the home stretch :)

∙ 12y agoWhen I was 37 week I went to doc and was told I was 2 cm dilated and 80 effaced...HAD MY DAUGHTER THE NEXT DAY! STARTED FEELING LABOR CONTRACTIONS AT AROUND 4:00AM. Hope this helps :-)

You are only 29 weeks your doctor just told you i am half a centimeter dilated and 75 percent effaced what does this mean?
Your cervix must dilate (open up) to 10 centimeters before you can essentially, 'push' the baby out. So half a cm is good progress, though it seems a bit early at 29 weeks? 75% effaced: you have to be 100% effaced (thinned out) for the cervix to fully dilate & ready to deliver the baby. So you're just about finished there.
Can you ask the doctor to induce you at 38 weeks?
The doctor wont do that unless the cervix and body is ready. I know it's uncomfortable but if they do it when the body is not ready, the labor can be harder and longer and that is not something you want.
What can cause vaginal bleeding at 38 weeks pregnant after my Doctor checked to see how far along I was dilated?
Irritation from the doctors figures checking the cervix, or your in labor.
Does your cervix need to be effaced for castor oil to work you're dilated to a 1?
CASTOR OIL CAUSES CRAMPS DIAHRRHEA AND DEHYDRATION...I WAS TOLD NOT TO USE IT...YOU SHOULD CHECK WITH A DOCTOR ABOUT USING IT FIRST...HOWEVER IVE HEARD THAT PRIMROSE OIL PILLS INSERTED INTO VAGINA HELP THE THINNING AND DIALATION...HOPE THAT HELPS IM 2CM 80% EFFACED AND COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS GOOD LUCK!!

If you are 4 cm dilated and 85 percent effaced and have starting having false labor how long until you go into true labor?
It totally depends! If you think you are going into labor, call your doctor or just go into the hospital. They will be able to tell you. I was 3 cm dilated for weeks and weeks! I got up to 70% effaced by 38 weeks. I went into labor and went into the hospital, however they sent me home because I didn't dilate past 3 cm in the entire hour I was there. 6 hours later I had my baby! So it happened very quickly for me. Pretty much RIGHT when I got home from my first trip to the hospital I started going into true and hard labor! Good Luck. :)
If I am 90 percent effaced and my doctor says I will not make another week how sure is he?
Probably pretty sure, because 90% is a lot. While there is the slim chance you could go over a week, most women will not.
How do i tell if i am pregnant?
The only way to be sure that you are pregnant is to take a pregnancy test and they are not 100 percent positive. The doctor has the best way of telling.

Does labor start at 3 cm dilation?
No. I have been dilated to 3 cm for over a week now. I was at 4 cm when I was induced with my first. My doctor said that one lady came in dilated to 10 cm (that's completely dilated) and was not in labor yet. She had to be induced.
WHAT if you are between 2-3 cm dilated?
If you are between 2 and 3 centimeters dilated, you are very close to active labor. You should walk around and stay close to the doctor's office or hospital.
