A standard shin guard would be ok, as long as the shin guard is just below your Knee and doesnt restrict movement of the knee then that would be ok. There are High Density Foam Shin Guards you can get these days that have groves so you can cut them to size. They give the same sort of protection as Plastic Guards in most cases.
