Yes

Added: There is no prohibition in the law to your getting one.

The felony conviction, however, will prevent you from being able to obtain a hazardous materials endorsement, and may prevent you from driving a bus with children depending on the type of conviction.

Yes, and many do. I recently heard that two thirds of the truck drivers entering some the US's most secure ports had felony conviction on their records. While it is difficult to impossible for a felon to obtain a Haz Mat certification in most states, it is not difficult for felons to obtain a CDL, and may companies readily hire former felons.

There are no restrictions on a convicted felon having a commercial truck drivers license. The question becomes whether a prospective employer will hire him or not. The career-field for truck drivers is generally pretty good.

Many truck drivers are exfelons. It is one of the few jobs they are permitted to do with little discrimination, simply because few other people really want to do it. In fact, soon after the 9/11 attacks, an investigation of the largest sea ports and the drivers delivering and picking up from them showed that 75% of the drivers at these facilities were exfelons, and the majority of them were registered sex offenders.

Yes. Unless, of course, the offense for which he was convicted was driving related and his license was revoked AND no driving is a condition of his release.

Depends. The severity of your felony measures your chance of having a drivers license granted. Unlike other American states, Texas has very different laws.
