You'ld better not if your cooling water is low because this wil cause the motor to overheat after some time. But it is ok to just refill the cooling system with ordinary water without anti freeze and drive with that for some time until you get new anti freeze.

How do you a add antifreeze in a 2003 Monte Carlo?

If you just want to add a little you can use the overflow tank to do it or if the radiator isn't full just take the radiator cap off and pour it in.

Why is antifreeze build around top of reserver?

Antifreeze usually has corrosion inhibitors added to the liquid. When the antifreeze mixture has too little percentage of this (usually too much water has been added) then corrosion starts to build because of the chemical reaction of the heat, water and materials used in your radiator/reservoir.

How do you flush and refill antifreeze on 2002 Yukon?

=To properly flush the antifreeze on a 2002 Yukon you will need a antifreeze vacume system you will need to start the car and have it running turn on all the heating modules to high and have the car reved at about 1.5 r.p.m, or a little higher to activate the vaccume this will start sucking the old antifreeze out. When the radiator is empty{you will know when it is empty because there will be no more antifreeze coming out}you can then fill it up with half and half antifreeze[half water half antifreeze].=

What do you check when your car engine gets hot?

Check your antifreeze level in the radiator first. There is usually a water pump behind the fan which pumps antifreeze/water as the engine turns, through little water jackets around the engine. This antifreeze/water solution absorbs the heat and is sent to the radiator to cool down before returning to the engine to absorb more heat and repeat the process. This process is regulated by a thermostat in the engine which allows the antifreeze/water to return to the radiator for cooling once a certain temperature is reached. It then makes sense that if the following conditions exist the engine will overheat. 1. Antifreeze/water level low 2. Thermostat not working preventing antifreeze/water from returning to radiator to cool down. 3. Fan belt or electric fan is is broken not allowing the fan to cool the radiator coil which in turn cools the Antifreeze/water. 4. an air lock exists in the system preventing thermostat from opening. To remove an air lock run the engine with the radiator cap off for 20 minutes ensuring that you keep the level of antifreeze/water high. Even when you think all the air is out which you will see bubbling leave it the full twenty minutes. **Never remove the radiator cap unless the engine is cold or running. Removing the radiator cap from a hot engine after turning it off can result in extremely hot liquid spraying out.**

Why would my 1987 305 V8 camaro keep popping radiator plug?

It's a stupid little plastic plug that can be stripped very easily. Take it to a rad shop and have them replace it.

Where is the antifreeze or coolant bleeder on a 1990 Pontiac Grand Am LE 2.5?

should be a little screw that is at the bottom of the radiator. if you can find it or it's too hard to get to then you can always disconnect the hose closest to the bottom of the radiator and drain it that way. It's easier and you get more of the fluid out faster.

What does camaro mean in spanish?

What Chemicals are used in radiator cleaner?

Radiator cleaner has a chemical that is a mild acid. A person can make a less caustic radiator cleaner by using a product called Sal Soda. Sal Soda is found in the laundry detergent aisle of most grocery stores. After draining the radiator, put in 2 cups of Sal Soda, and fill with water. Put the cap on the radiator and run the vehicle for about 10 miles. Then drain and refill with the appropriate antifreeze.

Where is the radiator cap located underneath the hood?

Locate the radiator; the cap should be in the center top of the radiator, or on the top left or top right corner.,,NEVER attempt to remove the cap if the engine is hot! It will blow SCALDING HOT antifreeze in your face! Unless you suspect the cap is bad, check the fluid level at the overflow tank. (follow the little hose from the top of the radiator.) This tank will show you how much fluid should be in it. If low, add antifreeze to this tank, NOT the radiator itself. Hope this is helpful!! go to www.autozone.com and check for your vehicle's specs. Many newer automobiles do not have a radiator cap. Coolant is added only through the over-flow bottle.
