Indeed this is an awkward situation. You didn't mention whether both of you were living together.

I have friends who have a same sex relationship and have adopted two children. Even though both parties are gay the children aren't and these children have the best care I've seen in a long time. Both partners spend a lot of fun times with the children, love them, laugh with them and these children are NOT gay and never will be. Love is love whether same sex or not. It's a myth that if children are brought up in same sex marriages they will become gay.

It's not uncommon for straight females to live together and one of them has a child or children and they live together simply to help out with rent and other expenditures. For now, it would be best to ease into the situation and keep your sex life private and away from the child. If you aren't living together then go elsewhere if for sexual satisfaction. If you are living together be sure the child is asleep and your door is locked while having sexual relations. Also, just for now, just talk and hold back on going too far with your physical emotions. Straight women may hug each other, but kissing and fooling around like a straight couple is too much too soon. In time things should work out.

It is also very important that the person with the child is truly gay and not experimenting as it's a difficult situation as is, and a mother should always put her children before herself.
