I have severe upper back pain within 1 hour of eating. I have recently quickly lost 33 pounds from a bad flare up of Crohn's. Ultrasound to check for gallstones came back clear. What is the back pain? In: Back and Neck, Pain

It is possible the back pain is from a partial obstruction at the site of the flare-up of your Crohn's. A build up of gas in the bowel behind the obstruction can cause severe pain up and around the shoulders. Another possible answer could be a reaction to medication, if you just recently had a flare up of Crohns and were treated with any new medication that you take with your meals it could be a reaction to that medication. Make sure your doctor is aware of this pain. Try eating small amounts to see if the severity of the pain is consistent with amount eaten. Always report odd or unusual new symptoms to your doctor.
