No, you shouldn't have hid the flowers or the card. This would show your boyfriend's true colors. He may be a little jealous at first, but if he trusts you then he should feel proud you got them and understand that you chose him over anyone else. Honesty should be right up there with good communication skills. It's too late now, but, if it happens again then you should tell him the truth.
