The easiest way is to look on their phones. Since the phones are technically your property (you own the account, after all) you can take them for this purpose.
The next best way is to ask the carrier for a log. This will not tell you the content of the messages, but it will give you a list of phone numbers that their phones have text messaged with. If you obtain a court order (which you can in certain situations depending on your location) you can receive the actual text of the messages they have sent and received. This is not guaranteed to work, however.
The only way to do this is to install an application on your daughters cell phone that will track everything she does. With this kind of app you can see all of the texts that go in and out, all calls made and received, and anything viewed on the internet.
To be perfectly honest, I was actually against it when my husband suggested we install parental control software on our son's cell phone. But after his grades suddenly dropped, I caved and helped my husband secretly install the tracking software on Bob's smart phone. The very next day and the first time we logged in to access the data, we just couldn't believe it when your parental control software revealed that our son was nearly in the next state when he was supposed to be spending the night at a friend's house across town!
you will thank me later

Text messages are small packets of data sent by cell phones.
i belive she can
You can't. Landline phones aren't capable of receiving text messages. Only cellular phones and other text messaging devices, such as zip-its, which is more of an IM device, but it still applies
there sent by a wire like all the phones do
only on certain phones can read messages while talking
It depends on what type of phones your friends have because the iPhone has some accents that were made just for other iPhone or a Smart phones alike
no they cant! only on text messages :)

Regular text messages or SMS (short message service) messages can be sent from most mobile phones with no special program required. iPhone users can send messages to other iPhone users using iMessage. Blackberry user can send messages to other Blackberry users using BBM (Blackberry Messenger).
