I want to decorate a shirt but don't know if I need special paint and if I do where do i get it?

For sponging, stamping and painting by brush you can use regular acrylic paints.
If you want to tie dye you will need a fabric dye.

Hobby Stores, (Michaels - Hobby Lobby, etc.) have Fabric paints that have extra elements within the paint so you can wash the garment without harming the paint. They come in many colors, also these stores carry a wide variety of brushes, templates,applique's, rhinestones, patches, etc.
