It depends on what kind of birth control. I took regular birth control pills for 12 years and stopped in July. I had my period in August as expected - I was regular right away.
it depends on how long you were on BC, it also depends on your body and why you went on them. it could take a month to six months just depending on everything.
You should return to your normal cycle - whatever it was before you started taking the pill.
Hiya!
When you stop BCP you will experience a withdrawal bleed from the BCP. You can expect your next period two weeks plus after the withdrawal bleed. Or your period may arrive exactly one month after your withdrawal bleed.
Sometimes your periods may become very irregular once you stop BCP. This is normal too. Periods should regulate themselves three to six months after stopping BCP. Take care.
It can take anywhere from 3 to 10 months for the depo to leave your system
My last Depo shot was March of 05. Today is now 9-1-05 and I still havent gotten my period back. I went back on Birth Control Pills and my doctor told me that until my body "rids" itself of the Depo I may not have a period. Every so often I spot for a day or so, but other than that I still have not gotten a real period.
I was on Depo for a year and a half, I had my last shot in Feb 2005 and my period returned in sept 2005.
Normally if i wait until the last minute to get my shot my period will already start to begin, and then it stops when i get the injection. So it is possible to get your period back right away.
It is always worth talking to your doctor if you experience oligomennorhoea (irregular periods or no period for a time < 6 months) or amennorhoea (no periods > 6 months). There are many causes and I would be concerned about several of the people answering above. Normally, menstruation resumes within days of stopping COC ("the pill"), even after long term usage. After pregnancy it is normally about 3 months before menstruation resumes, but this is because of a different hormone.
