They have committed a criminal act as well as being civily liable. The criminal offense would take priority over any civil action. That does not mean a civil lawsuit cannot be filed. Athough nothing, obviously, can compensate for the lives lost.

Maybe, just as a restaurant could be held liable for serving intoxicated customers, who then go out and cause an accident. I dont agree with it, but even though a person should be held responsible for their own actions, and lives cannot be replaced, were the teens forced to drink, take drugs, and then drive a vehicle? Im sorry to any family who had to go through that.

Am i liable if my son is in an auto accident?

Well this depends on a lot of factors. For one if he is under 18 yes, you are liable. He is a minor. 18 or older no, hes an adult. Now, if he is 18 or older and you are on the title, then yes you can be liable. Technically they can go after anyone on the title, even if you weren't driving. Mark Owner of Denvers Insurance

What happens when adult unlicensed driver hits you and is driving an insured car?

Generally, the owner of the insured car is held liable for any damages or losses involved after an accident. So if you want to file a claim for compensation after a crash, it is better to file it with the owner of the insured car or his insurance company. The adult unlicensed driver however, can be held liable criminally if there was death or injury involved.

If your 19 year old son gets into an accident but is not insured, typically he is the one responsible for the accident, as he is considered an adult.
