There are several possible explanations which both lead to the same result. The obvious conclusion is that Eve knew of God's instruction not to eat of the tree. She repeated almost word for word (see Genesis 3:2-3) the instruction which God had given in the previous chapter. (2:16-17). So Eve certainly knew it, the question is how.
One possible explanation is to realize that the account of the creation of man in Genesis 2:4 onwards is not necessarily chronological. Eve may have been present when the instruction was given to Adam.
The other way would be to understand that Adam told Eve what God had said.
