I would highly recommend a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092. I have one, and I love it. I would highly recommend it.

Determine the upper limit of what you will spend and prioritize in order the most important factors for your needs. Generally for a laptop that you intend to travel with I recommend, in order:

-Battery Life
-Weight
-Keyboard Comfort
-Processor


The battery life isn't the absolutely best, but the most comfortablelaptop I've had the pleasure of using thus far has been an IBM Thinkpad (now owned by Lenovo but essentially the same design). Lenovo, Dell, or Toshiba are what I'd personally recommend.
