If a Dodge Daytona turns over but doesn't start and the fuel pump and injecters are ok would it be timing belt?

The timing belt of any vehicle being broken will cause the engine to turn over and sound much faster than normal.That is the best indicator without disassembly for a broken timing belt.If fuel has been confirmed,the next step is to ensure spark is present during cranking.This requires some test equipment normally unless you are old school and have the guts to hold a screwdriver close enough to ground and watch for spark.Once spark is checked and if present,compression and air are all that remain to verify.If you need further help,e-mail me....good luck!Check for a clogged exhaust. Actually,loosen up your exhaust manifold then try starting it. I changed a timing belt on a Geo Metro and even swapped my computer from a salvage yard among every possible thing I could think of and the clogged exhaust was the culprit.

Have a friend crank the engine while you look through the oil filler opening on the valve cover with a flashlight. You should see the valve train moving when the engine is cranked. If the valve train does not move, then the timing belt has broken and is no longer turning the camshaft. You can also look through the hole on the side of the timing belt cover on the left (passenger side) of the engine. You may have to remove a plug covering the hole.
