If a customer cannot see your face when speaking to you on the telephone why is it still important to put a smile on your face before answering the telephone in a work situation?

[Edit]
Believe it or not, but that smile on your face will transmit into friendliness on the other end. If your outlook is happier, the person to whom you are talking with will actually feel this without seeing that big grin. Try it sometime.

Also the boss might be watching you.
