Turned off? Probably not.

You stated that you like him, and he likes you, but for whatever reason, you are avoiding him. I'll be perfectly honest: that is probably a big cause for confusion on his part. Guys are just as insecure as girls are about new relationships; we just don't like to admit it. :)

My advice would be, approach him and tell him how you feel.
