Given that you asked the question in the first place shows that you have a moral struggle taking place. You know what the right answer is and if you don't do what is right you will regret it forever. Pay the doctors and or the hospital the money that is owed to them and stop the bankruptcy action. KEEP IT. THE DOCTORS MAKE PLENTY OF MONEY, YOU NEED TO THINK ABOUT YOUR FINANCIAL SECURITY FIRST. Well, let's see, before you filed BK, you received monies to cover the medical expenses... Sure you can keep the money, file BK, and the trustee will look at that money as an asset to be distributed to the creditor. Either way, you pay the med bill. Why go through all of the expense of filing BK? Pay the med bill. Try to hide the money and be charged with fraud. Your choice. I'm not sure why the insurance company would give you the money in the first place, but if you were to keep the money, that is insurance fraud .. and if caught doing it, you could be in a lot of trouble.
