Not necessarily. Many scooters use a "tuned pipe" form of muffler which actually helps the efficiency of the engine. Removing such a muffler will not only make the scooter annoyingly loud, but will reduce its power.

yes it will make it go faster by unrestricting the exaust flow and it will make it go about 2 to 3 mph but it will make it REALY loud your best bet is to get a performance tuned pipe or Xcan

i took mine off it makes mine faster and louder and sucks because you get caught by the cops . if you want speed do it but if it gets takin away by the cops you have to pay 15 dollars a day to be storded and 300 dollars to get it back.

Depending on your carb it can choke your engine because of too much air flow and it will cause dirt to accumulate in the carb.So NO.
