Hi It depends very much on where you live, and how old your boyfriend is. There is no single statutory rape law, but most states take a dim view of older men and child sex. In some places, if your boyfriend is more than 5 years older than you, he could find himself looking down the barrel of a Class II Felony charge. Maybe both of you could be arrested, maybe neither of you could. Here's just part of something I found online at Wikipedia while I was researching your question: intercourse with an individual between the ages of 13?16 may be a significantly lesser charge (such as, "unlawful sexual conduct with a minor," or, "criminal sexual conduct with a minor,") depending on the jurisdiction, the age difference between the participants, and other factors. Criminal sanctions for violations of the age of consent which are not statutory rape may range from a minor misdemeanor to a high level felony. For example, if there is a 5 year or more (16-21) difference, it would be considered aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 Felony. Some jurisdictions have a third age boundary which is an age of consent that is relevant in situations in which the adult is in a position of authority over the minor (e.g., the minor's teacher, doctor, coach, school principal, mental health provider, et cetera). Think about what you are contemplating, not just from a legal point of view, but from the point of view that your life is truly only just starting. Are you SURE that running away is your only answer? Nobody else in the world loves you or cares for you and worries about you? Not friends or family? No grandma to hole up with for a while as you think about it? No friend with caring parents and a spare bedroom or even a basement you could put a mattress down in? I'm really not trying to frighten you for fun, but at 16 you really don't have many resources and you should think long and hard about running away from the ones you have; I know parents can do strange things. I don't understand how a parent could really ever turn their back on their baby (that's you) for real. If you really think you are all grown up, before you run anywhere, take a deep breath, summon up all your courage, and try sitting and talking with whoever you think it is that is forcing you to take this radical step. People say things in the heat of the moment that they wish they could take back. Maybe you are in that position. I hope you are, because I seriously can not see anything good coming for you if you do this. You are putting not only yourself at risk, but your unborn child.

That depends on state laws and why you are running away. If you have been abused, you will be placed in state custody pending a trial. This would usually come in the form of a group home, a foster home, or a relative being named as your temporary legal guardian(s). If you are running away just to run away, you will be picked up by the police and taken home.

The first thing they do is to take you back home. If you have been abused etc they will find a foster or group home for you or the parent that abuses you will be removed from the home and charged and you and the other parent can stay.

The police in all states will be looking for you and take you back home or foster care if the court will find it better. Everyone who has helped you can be charged with aiding a runaway. No one will trust you again. You gain nothing on running away.

If the juvenile is reported as missing or a runaway, a bolo (be on the lookout) notice will be issued by the police, a report will be filed and the juvenile will be retuned home if found.
