Well, you didn't give quite enough information to make an informed response. There are just too many variables like 1) Just how hot did it get (if may have seized the engine in which case you need another one), 2) What kind of car is it? Does it have a heat sensor switch that tripped and must be reset?, 3)Does it turn but not crank or is it simply seized?, etc...
Make sure nothing is clogged in the block
Could be a bad temperature sensorUsually located at the rear of the radiator about 1/3 down from the top
It heats from the celci-di that heats an outdoors calborithm
it my be a freeze plug
Your thermostat is stuck closed. you will need to replace it. The thermostat controls the circulation through the radiator - when the engine heats up the thermostat is meant to switch circulation from just-engine to engine+radiator. Sounds like this isn't happening.

Is the fan functioning?
Water pump malfunctioning. Thermostat stuck closed or partially closed. Radiator plugged with sediement.
Check; coolant, fan, fan clutch and fan clutch solenoid, blocked or partially blocked lines and coolant gallery.
it might be the belt
The hot water heats the metal of the radiator, which heats the surrounding air. The warm air circles round the room.
You say that it still over heats, meaning that you replaced the hose thinking that this was the problem ? Start from the beginning, check to make sure that the rad. is good. Does it o/heat at idle only ? electric fan work ? Does it o/heat all the time ? Change the thermostat. How old is the rad. ? Has the water pump ever been changed ? Could have poor circulation. Make, model, will help.
