If someone failed the 9th grade could they still go to a good college or university such as an Ivy League college?

Answer:

Answer

It certainly doesn't help. You could possibly transfer into one of the school though I don't know if all of those school allow transfer students. If your a transfer student, they don't look so closely at your high school transcript as long as you did really well in the college your transferring from. Always believe you can do something, never stop trying.

Answer

The most important part of a high school transcript is the 12th and 11th grade. If you did extrememly well then and did well on standardized tests, then the 9th grade does not effect your chances as much. However, if your grades were average over 12th and 11th I would doubt it.

Answer

To be fair with you, no. While some people believe in miracles, it is a long shot that even a miracle could give you a chance of getting into any of the schools you listed. Imagine for a second the smartest, most accomplished kid in your high school class. Now realize that his chances of getting into Harvard, Yale, or Princeton aren't that good... probably 1/50 AT BEST. If, however, you manage to develop a vaccine for AIDS or diffuse a complex international crisis before you're ready to do your college application, feel free to include that as it might aid in your efforts. If not, and you continue to fail in school, perhaps you are better suited to a "non-college" career, like a police officer for example.

If you retake the entire year, the first try might not be included in your gpa, if you don't have credits from it. If you are not academically oriented then school is a great place to develop other skills, like acting or athletics.

Where there is a will there is a way. If you failed the 9th grade, and later in life decided to to to an Ivy League school you can. You may have to go to another college first and boost up for GPA, but it is possible. I myself dropped out of high school and got a GED, I also graduated from an Ivy League School, so if you want it bad enough you can do it!
