Yes, because of the two, being fatherless is by far the most damaging to the child, and to society, in general. see links.

Answer!i completely disagree, i my self , grew up without my real father and he doesnt pay child support! (im 14 years old i didnt get to make the decision my mum did) If you think your daughter is old enough to make her own decision about this and she doesnt want to talk to him them as far as im concerened she shouldn't have to talk to him. if he was a good father then he would be paying child support AND seeing your daughter atleast once a week. Your daughter obviously isn't happy with his fathering skills so that proves that he isn't worth the time of day!

You are not her. Not every case is the same, but the majority are adversely affected. And 18 year old is not mature enough for this decision. At 14, it has been less than 2 years she her brain BEGAN developing the ability for conceptual thought process. That stage is not complete until age 24 in her and age 30 in males. At age 14 she is reflecting your desires, not hers. This is called parental alienation syndrome. If you think she's mature enough to make her own decisions, than this should apply to all aspects of her life, including schooling and whether to get pregnant.

Yes, you can. Most states prohibit naming a father without either a marriage license or a DNA test. Of course, if you are unmarried and sue the child's father for child support, the father's name will be added to the birth certificate. Also, in almost all child support cases, the child's last name is changed to the father's last name.

Child support and visitation are two separate issues. The child is a minor and is not allowed to decide. Any changes to the court order has to be done at the court that issued it.
