Usually, yes. But Esquire (Esq.) is not used to refer to oneself, for example, If I were an attorney, I would not put on my business cards Jane Doe, Esq.
Esquire is an honorary title that is used by others about you. It is not considered good etiquette to use it when referring to oneself. It is however, polite to use it when referring to another Attorney. Like when referring to a judge as "The Honorable, etc., etc.
