If there is a Bluetooth why not a Redtooth?

The Bluetooth was created after the Redtooth Leader lost circulation to its teeth. The Redtooth population decided it needed to be the same as their leader, so they all also cut off circulation to their teeth.

Over the course of hundreds of years, they eventually evolved to naturally have blue teeth. The few remaining that had red teeth were wiped out during Elvis's gassey years. We've now discovered that the blue-toothed Redteeth can be used to wirelessly transmit signals between their teeth.

We've taken advantage of this by slaughtering them, attaching their teeth to phones, microphones, speakers, keyboards, etc. and we use those products without even thinking about the strange little creatures inside of them.

The reason there is a Bluetooth but not a Redtooth is because after much deliberation, endless memos, and mindlessly boring meetings, the decision was made to find out whether the name Bluetooth was available for use on the type of product to be marketed. Available it was, and so Bluetooth came to be.

They could've come up with Redtooth, or Dingy Dentures, or Unidentified Body Part, and maybe they did, but Bluetooth won the day.

The frightening thing for all those involved in the process to find just the right trademark is that one day one of the ideas they discarded will be taken up by a competitor and become a household name, sweeping the global markets and creating a brand loyalty of such dazzling proportions as to make not only the brand famous beyond any marketer's wildest dreams, but to make the name of the person who invented the trademark a generic term for marketing brilliance.

Wait for it: one day we might all be saying, wow, now there's a real Fred Schmidt of a campaign, or, hey, that's a real Schmidt of an idea...
