That is a very good point, however I am informed that a friends sister has one - we just can't remember what brand of fridge it is...maybe an Amana.
GE Profiles do as well.
And while many do, many certainly don't. I think the reason is that the freezer is a relatively small compartment, and most things in it are wrapped anyway -- they are pretty easy to see and there's not a lot of color or detail required.
Also, its just a matter of need. You don't go to the freezer in the middle of the night, but you do to the fridge hence the light coming on..not many people turn the lights on to grab a drink..fridge manufacturers jumped on this and used it to their advantage!
But on the other hand, you might need to get ice, what if you stub your toe? Then you would need a light in the freezer!!!! :D
For climate control
It is because light doesn't only give light but warmth. The fridge is okay since it doesn't have to be totally cold but in the freezer, it has to be. It can depend on what type of fridge or freezer you have. Some have a light in it, it is a matter of whether that model has one or not.
Another answer:
The light would freeze in the freezer causing you problems.
Most fridges and freezers have lights in them. If your freezer doesn't have a light in it then I don't know.
