You may have enjoyed the pomp and prestige of having been the Brigade Commander. To your Drill Instructor you are fresh meat and it is his or her job to convert you from a recruit to a Marine.

If you took ROTC seriously and learned everything you could and then apply what you already know to the task at hand, you should be able to come out well ahead of your peers. That will give you a strong starting point in the Marine Corps.
