Do you mean you are frightened by the thought that he'll come home in a bad mood? If so, there is most likely an element of abuse there.

On the other hand, I'd have to say most people don't know what kind of mood their spouse will be in when he/she gets home from work. I certainly can't predict my husband's moods. But neither am I afraid of even his worst moods.

If you want a more definitive answer, you'll need to follow up your post with some kind of details or explanation.

Refuse to accept such behaviour. Demand reasonably predictable and rational actions and reactions. Insist on respect for your boundaries, predilections, preferences, and priorities.

thanks to everyone that answered my question. when i said i wasnt sure what mood my partner was in when he comes in from work, i meant that if he was in a moody kind of mood he makes everyone in the home feel really on edge and me tensed up and this really effects my eldest

To me this would be a sign of what kind of a person he was. I left my narciscictic husband of 25 years. Every morning when we got up and he was in the bathroom I would look at his face and I could tell whether I should be careful with him that day. Whether he was going to be nice or ugly. I didn't call that abuse per sae, but it told me that I didn't want to live like that anymore or with him anymore.
