If you become a vegetarian and eat salads and soy protein such as tofu and soy cheese and a lot of grains and vegetables and fruit but not meat will you lose weight? |
[Edit] |
That depends
If you're a vegetarian and make smart food choices by eating foods low in fat and sugar, and get exercise, you will most likely lose weight. If you're a vegetarian and eat lots of fat and sugar, and don't exercise, chances are you won't lose weight. There are many kinds of foods for vegetarians to eat that are healthy, but if abused can make you fat. For example, a Nature's Valley Granola bar. 2 Nature's Valley Granola bars has 6 grams of fat and 11 grams of sugar. That's not alot of fat and sugar if you eat ONLY 2 Granola bars, but if you assume," oh! Granola bars are healthy! I can eat alot of them and lose weight! ", you're wrong. Granola bars, just like almonds, sunflower seeds, and yogurt are healthy foods, but can make you fat if you abuse them. You don't actually have to be a vegetarian to lose weight. If you want to eat meat, go ahead! Just remember to eat foods low in fat and sugar and get at least an hour of physical activity everyday. ( Also, if you eat too much refined carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, and cereal, you can get fat. Try not to eat over 400 grams of refined carbohydrates a day or you will get fat because your body can't pack the excess carbs into muscle and organ tissue, and will be converted into fat. )Hope this helps.
