If you buy a car at auction for a winning bid and the title shows a existing lien after receipt who is responsible for clearing the lien? In: Car Buying |
[Edit] |
if you are the highest bidder, you get the auction papers to the car, when u go to the DMV you will register the car as your own, the title will come in the mail and show an existing lien on the car it says the banks name and your name yet, the person who originally requested the auto loan will have to pay for the car even if it is in your possesion, so you are not responsible for paying the lien and no one has the authority to take that vehicle away from you as long as you bought it legally in a auction and keep copies of all the auction paper work cause one day you might need it. now if you want to sell the car with a lien on the title, i dont know what happens there, thats the step im up to. if you know what happens if you sell a car with a lien on the title email me djhackstyle@hotmail.com
